MapMuse - Shooting Ranges Project A Success
The following is an update from Mapmuse.com regarding the mapping of shooting ranges.
"About 6 months ago, Mapmuse.com began a project- the interactive mapping of shooting and target ranges across the US. We initially researched and populated these maps ourselves, with the idea in mind that shooting enthusiasts would subsequently add to, and enhance, the information we provided. We mapped each shooting range, and provided space for a written description, photo, and link to a website. Since this project was started, the public has made hundreds of additions and enhancements to these maps. We now have one of the most comprehensive databases of shooting and target ranges in the US.
If you were one of our contributors, we'd like to thank you for your help! I'm writing today to ask that if you know of any shooting and target ranges that have opened or closed in the last 6 months, that you make those changes to the maps. Also, we encourage you to add any shooting and target ranges that we are still missing. If you own or manage a shooting range, we also have a new option of a premium listing at $10/ year. This listing has all of the features of the free listing, as well as an enhanced map presence, a text link beneath the map, and more photos. If you have a shooting related website, you can post a link in our Recommended Links section (also $10/ year). You can read about these options, and make changes, through easy to use links on the site- if you have any problems, see

If you are not familiar with MapMuse.com, we are a highly trafficked mapping website with an Alexa traffic rating of approximately 17,000 in the world. MapMuse's goal is to help people find places related to their interests. MapMuse continues to add new topics of interest each week. If you have a topic that you would like to see mapped, you can suggest the interest on the MapMuse site, and there is a good chance it will be addressed.

MapMuse Provides Information for Skeet Shooting Ranges.
MapMuse.com has recently introduced interactive mapping of shooting ranges across the US. There are presently over 3000 shooting ranges located on the MapMuse maps.
The idea is for shooting enthusiasts to build upon what MapMuse have started by adding information about their local shooting ranges to the maps. The following information can be provided for each shooting range- the name of the place, descriptive text, a photo, contact information, and a link to a website. Through this kind of community effort, MapMuse hopes to have the most comprehensive, and descriptive maps for shooting enthusiasts to locate ranges at home, and on their travels. So we invite you to let other shooting enthusiasts know about what is available in your community. There is an ADD and EDIT feature on the site (you can refer to http://find.mapmuse.com/re1/mmFAQ.htm#A4 if you have questions about making changes). Once a visitor suggests a change, it is reviewed for appropriateness and then posted within a few hours. This service constitutes free advertising for the shooting ranges.
You can view the shooting ranges map by going to MapMuse.com, and selecting View All Interests. Alternatively, the following link will take you directly to the Shooting Ranges Map:
