Skeet Shooting From High At Station Eight
Hi, my name is Don Snyder, executive director of the National Skeet Shooting Association and on behalf of Expert Village.com.
We are about to show you how to shoot a high house eight on a skeet field. Now you must remember these are instructions for beginners to just get started so you can enjoy and participate in the game of skeet at your local shooting facility.
Now one of the things when you shoot a high house eight you may seem to think it is a little bit fast, but you really don’t have to move the shotgun very far. The key here is to be ready to receive the target.
When you call “pull” for this target you need to be ready to move the target. There is no lead involved in this target. Basically what you do is you black the target out and once you have blacked it out pull the trigger and the target should break. Now again, you must stay focus on that target.
Stay focused on the target, look for the target, put the gun barrel on the target, and pull the trigger. Now safety here is extremely important. One of the things that you do not want to do is take the shotgun beyond the center stake. If you have not pulled the trigger by the time the target gets to the center stake do not pull the trigger because you will have other shooters directly in back of you ready to participate in breaking that target. I will demonstrate.
Now one of the things that is extremely important here is you want to give yourself a little bit of an advantage and my suggestion is if you bring the gun just outside the house here. Just a little bit outside the house so you see daylight in line with the lower portion of the window. Okay? Now here I will demonstrate the shot.
If you notice where I point the shotgun, call for the target, and here is the movement of the shotgun right to the target, pull the trigger. I will demonstrate. Pull! As you can see it was just a slight movement up with the shotgun, touch it, pull the trigger, and the target should break.
