Skeet Shooting from Low at Station One
Hi, I’m Don Snyder, Executive Director of the National Skeet Shooting Association, and I’m here on behalf of expertvillage.com.
One of the things we want to talk about now is the second shot on the skeet field which is the single from low house one. We’re on station one. “Dan if you would please release a low house target from station one. Dan on my call, Pull”! Here the target is coming from the low house and it is coming to you.
Now this is the first target where we get involved in some lead. And one of the things that’s advertised is that you need approximately, you need to be one foot out in front. Now what one foot out in front looks like is approximately one finger’s distance from the end of the barrel. If you’re one finger’s distance from the end of the barrel in front of that target, looking at the target and following through, the target should break.
Okay, with that said, as you’ll notice, the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction. I will take a 12-gauge cartridge, I will load my shotgun, assume the proper stance, a little bit of forward pressure, I will mount the gun simultaneously to my cheek and face, call “Pull”, get the one foot lead, or one finger in front of the barrel, and pull the trigger, the target should break, as it did.
